:welcome2: Chris. do a site search for RF receiver. new one needed and only one that works is 3rd gen model. about 150 quid.better to get from stealers are there are some dodgy ones on ebay and alike.

I doubt that; stealing the charge maybe...
But yeah, basically the little box that listens for the radio signal from the keyfob is.. not very bright, and picks up stray signals of pretty much everything, thus waking up the car computer; draining the battery.
Depending on how quickly you can procure a new receiver (for the record it's behind the right, rear parcel shelf) you can unplug the aerial to reduce its sensitivity (this will make (un)locking the car a bit tedious). The aerial is the SINGLE BLUE wire, not the cluster. Good luck :)
Also, it helps to pop your location (not too specific ;) ) on your profile, since sometimes there may be someone local who can help

or just unplug the receiver if you dont want to splash out yet. Remote will still work just means you have to hold it next to the rear window each time you use it.

Don't unplug the RF receiver, that can cause grief, just unplug the aerial lead to the RF receiver. You will then have to stand right next to the rear drivers side window for the FOB to operate. Don't leave changing the receiver for too long or it may burn your locks.
