I wonder if anyone could help me out.

I own a Defender 90 300tdi and was on my way home from work today when the "Battery Charging" warning light came up, but I was less than a mile away from home so decided to continue home before I stopped to check out the problem. However, around a minute or two after it came on, it began to flicker and procede to get dimmer until it faded out altogether.

After I had parked up, I turned the engine off, then turned the igntion onto stage 2 to see if the warning light would come up again, but the bulb did not light up as it should.

Does this simply mean that the bulb has gone? And also how serious a problem is it when the Battery Charging Warning light comes on? I just hope it is not a combination of bulb failing and the warning.

Thanks. Steve.

loose belt, buggered alt bearing, dodgy bulb connections, dying diode pack
