Hello, I have finally had some time to get back to my Land Rover series 2a 1971
still need to sort the front lights out. The bloody battery is totally flat i hooked It up to my battery charger all good for 10mins then everything stopped only to find the battery charger had died!! So I need some help in getting the right charger please,

Died or switched off? A modern smart charger won't charge if the battery is totally flat
A lot of people rave about ctek chargers, i have 2 and can't complain

Those aren't particularly demanding of a charger. Cheapest you can get, hook it up, and leave it overnight, job done.

If your battery has died, as seems likely, you will need to get a new battery first.

We have Varta on our 2a, not had any problems with it.

Batteries don’t like being deaded very often. It could very well be time for another.
My charger is a very cheap smart charger with a pulse repair function but I’m not sure it would make a completely worn out battery any good.
Think I paid £15 for it but when I park up at night I have an extension lead from the shed and a marine socket on the series. I just plug the cable in and if the battery needs a boost it fires up automatically and trickles a bit of juice in.
No real need for expensive high tech with lead acid. They are a simple animal.

Battery is only 3yrs old not had truck engine running for about 18months but been trying to get front lights to work so I think I have run battery flat hooked up charger and it worked for about an hour then all electrics I do have wired in stopped working no spark from charger and no lights in charger.

Battery's hate being left flat for long, hope you can get a new charger quick.
