I've looked back over recent battery posts but nothing
obvious helps. I park up my N reg HSE RR outside the
house and take of for a week's Red Sea Scuba holiday
and when I get back it is flatter than a very flat
thing. Not: won't crank but: nothing even glimmers.

The battery is 70AH and a year old. Is there
something draining it that I can unplug? Assuming it
was reasonably charged when I left it to kill it like
this implies nearly half an amp of drain but when I
charged it and put it back nothing seemed to be drawing.

What am I doing that's stupid here?

Some info here:

Also, I hear that Oregon Scientific weather stations can use a
frequency which somehow keeps part of the electronics awake.

Serves you right for sodding off to the Red Sea whilst the rest of us
are shivering at Stoney.

<sigh>
So it's out with the spectrum analyser then.
I never thought I'd have to use that on the car...

????
<looks out of window>
But the sea is still warm and flat so if you're
diving Stoney Cove it's self inflicted.

sounds like the infamous alarm thing. I assume it's a P38A type RR?

basically, something interacts with the alarm and causes battery drain. I
forget the details...

AndyC will be along in a bit, or someone else savvy in this.

Both BMW X5 had the problem, leaving my wife stranded at a railway station
twice, and early Mk111 Range Rovers as well.
They are all sorted now and my own Mk111 has not let us down once yet.
