Hey Peeps,

Fairly new to the LR's. Looking for some advice if possible. I have been told there is some transmission backfire when releasing clutch this is
intermittent.

I was thinking I may be lifting them foot of the Clutch to quick or could it be something else ?

It's been a family owned FL from new with 45K on the clock from new.

If anyone has any images to help identify what the problem could be that would be great.

Cheers,

You have a TD4 right? I'm not sure what you meant by "transmission backfire". A backfire is a term usually applied to a petrol motor when the timing is way out and fuel is igniting in the exhaust system.

I guess you mean that when releasing the clutch pedal it takes off with a jerk/roughly?

Check the clutch bracket on the g'box isn't bent or cracked. Have someone operate the clutch pedal while you look at it. Does the clutch arm move fully and freely? Does that bracket wobble or flex?

Hydraulic problem. Have a look at the hydraulic system. Follow it back from that bracket to the firewall to the master cylinder, any obvious leaks?

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply yes its a TD4. Its when lifting the Clutch pedal to quick after changing gear you get that stall type of effect or " Jerk " .

I'm pretty sure I am just lifting the foot of clutch t o quick once I have changed gear.

I had the whole clutch arm replaced back in October as it was sitting t o high and was told that's a common issue with FL 1

I will look at what you have mentioned. If it is either of the things you have mentioned are they costly to repair?

The cheapest option is to slow down the release of that clutch pedal!

The bracket isn't an expensive part and shouldn't cost a lot to fit either. Bracket <£10 plus fitting

Hydraulics not hugely expensive but will cost more to have it fitted. about £175? [LR part] plus fitting

Cheers for the advice, will look into it in depth over the weekend.

Oh I see you are based over seas , Not sure if you can help in this post or do I need to start a fresh, Looking For a Genuine A Bar S/S Chrome to fit my 2005 FL mine has the modified lights.

Morning Folks,

Resolved the problem Rear Diff Front Mounting Bracket was gone, replaced the other 2 at the same time so hopefully last another 10 years. :D
