Hey all!

Okay so I was on hear about a year ago, with a 300 TDI. That ended the usual way - holes everywhere! To be fair it was pretty cheap and I didn't exactly do much to help.

Anyway, I picked up a manual 2002 D2 TD5 recently, spent a bit more money and think I may have got a bargain! I'll try and get some pics of the underside to get some opinions tomorrow :) But no leaking sunroofs and no holes!
On to the faults though, which of course there are a few!
- 3 amigos are on (need to get this diagnosed before I attempt anything, anyone recommend anywhere near Guildford, Surrey?)
- Rear wiper doesn't work (suspect motor, havent had chance to take it apart yet)
- Drivers seat falling apart!
- All gear gaiters etc knackered (just replaced these today, £6.99 off eBay and look much better! But stupid me got the stitching the wrong way round on the diff but heyho)
- Steering needs alignment (also seems to be a bit of play before it actually turns?)
- Front bumper wonky!
- Think the air suspension has been removed, what should I check to be sure it was done properly?
- Seat belt warning doesn't work? Not a bad thing but curious how this was disabled?
- Crunch going from first to second?

Cheers guys, looking forward to tinkering!

Stephen

Challenger 4x4 in Tongham / Ash might be your nearest, other end of the Hogs Back from you (and while you're there, it would be rude not to pay a visit to the brewery...).

There's also Keith Gott in Alton ....I've no real experience of them mind, only had to get them to swap out the fuel filter as I was afraid of busting the mounting, but they seemed OK to me.

Right, few bits done! But thats it for a while, what with Christmas coming up too, am skint!

- 3 amigos all sorted, was the offside front wheel hub. ~£50 from fleabay and £90 fitting including alignment check
- Wheel alignment, was off the scale out! But all sorted now
- Rear wiper, all done: had to replace rear motor and arm
- Whilst the rear door was apart I repainted the spare wheel carrier (hammerite), and cut and flipped ready for getting larger wheels
- Flashing mileage counter just been synced today, garage didn't even charge me for it!

Okay, and it turns out the front sunroof does leak a bit :( got some silicone for that, and some spray adhesive to reattach some of the sagging headliner.
Still on the hunt for a drivers seat, apparently black is hard to find!

The main things bugging me is the play in the steering and the crunch going into second. The guy at the garage reckoned I'd need to replace the gearbox to sort that...any other suggestions for either of those?

Thanks!

I actually just went to GuildfordTyres - I've run out of holiday at work, and that was the nearest place I was able to get hold of that was open Saturdays. Pretty reasonable!
This morning for the flashing odometer, went to Rangers of Slyfield, a Land Rover Specialist, might get in touch with them for any more bits, but the downside is they're shut all weekends...

For your gearbox crunch:-
1/ Bleed the clutch to make sure your are achieving full travel.
2/ Change the gearbox oil. (Use the right stuff, forgotten what it's called again, but someone here will know)

If you had a Master cyl / Slave cyl problem say air, i think you would get crunching in all gears.
Do you have a syncro problem
If you need a box i would use Ashcroft transmissions
