B Post repair

The bottom of both my B posts need repair, holes below the bottom of the hinge on each side. I have got the repair pieces from YRM and spoken to a Garage who want to strip inside, remove and support the roof to weld in the new sections. Talking a couple of days to fix and quite a hefty bill. I'm no welder, hence having to get someone to do it for me but this seems a bit ott? I had thought it would be a case of remove doors, support roof if necessary, cut out old and weld in new. Probably a days work? Have I got this right or am I being a bit simplistic.

It used to be possible to buy a complete one piece B pillar and cills, not sure if its still possible? My B Pillar bottoms are also rusting.
