My 90 came with Colway 235/85x16 tyres, fitted on Rostyles, which I believe are from a RR classic. It seems okay for road use, and my light off-roading so far hasn't presented a problem. The spare is somewhat knackered, and is on an 8-spoke steel wheel. I'm kinda between getting a 5th Rostyle and a Colway-ish tyre (I gather Colway are out of business), getting a 5th Rostyle and a new set of 5 tyres, or switching to different wheels and tyres altogether.

Regarding the latter, a set of 5 standard steel wheels (5.5J?) fitted with 7.50x16 Rangemasters are available locally. The Rangemasters are about 25mm narrower, similar diameter, and have a more aggressive tread.

What are the Rangemasters and standard wheels like for road use compared to what I have? (I assume they're less prone to clogging and are thus a bit better off-road.) The Rostyles, I believe, are 6" wide, but is there any difference in offset (ie, would the centre line of both tyres still be in the same place)?

Another way to look at it is winter tyres. Are the Rangemasters particularly good in snow and ice? Better than an AT like the Colways?

I've got a set of rangemasters on standard landy rims on my 109. They're a good all rounder ok on the road, not too aggressive a tread so not too noisy. They seem ok in the limited amount of mud I've seen since I've had them and by all accounts they'll last well. Bin the rostyles they're horrible.
