Automatic gearbox in td5

Can anyone point me in the right direction plz I'm going t buy a landy td5 but it's an automatic and I've never had one can anyone tell me if there good for off road as I do a bit of pest control and don't want to buy one if they are **** I've always had suzuki but own a gv 19 ddis 56 reg and the dealer wants £3286 to put a new dpf filter on so it's time for a change thanks !!!!:

Auto gearbox it's not too bad. But before purchase check if everything works fine.
Every one single gear ,no noises, vibrations etc.
