There is a massive oil leak from this pipe on my 2.5 TD engine which I have in my ongoing Series 3 project, can anyone help me with that this is, does and what part number it is? I cant seem to find the part on any landy parts website and I am stumped, if i cant get one the only option would be to blank it off and obviously that isnt a good idea. Any help would be appreciated!

Also I have a leaky tank, I have fiberglassed the bottom and around the seams (it is a series LWB diesel tank) and covered it in a bitumen sealer stuff i was recommened, all was fine for a week now it has started weeping, no where near as bad as it was but nevertheless I am losing fuel! Anyone know of any external fixes i could use as it is torture to get it in and out. Thanks in advance. Chris.

is it the pipe leaking or the copper washers either side of the flanges on banjo bolt?

Its the pipe itself, it was coming from the block side copper washer but in a hurry I overtighened it by mistake  and it has bent and severed the pipe. And now when I fire it up oil just gushes out.

Cheers

I think you will find that the pipe is the oil feed pipe to the cylinder head, lubricating all the valve gear etc etc. I wouldn't run it long without it.

I suggest downloading the Microcat parts catalogue and finding the part number from there. Once you have it it'll be a trusted resource for a while. There are several threads around guiding you to the links & instructions, just google "Microcat land Rover". It's a very large file requiring an overnight broadband download, and the file will need burning to a CD afterwards.

On your fuel tank Diesel will creep through to find any leak. I suggest you get the tank repaired professionaly through welding on a patch.

I don't think the fibreglass will hold for long at all, however if you want a temporary fix I would drain it out, clean it spotlessly externally, make up a sheet metal patch as big as possible and bond it on with epoxy glue such as Araldite. This will not work if there is any rust or paint on the surface, as the fuel will leak under the paint / through the porous rust.

Good luck.
