does anyone know where this fits on a td5 disco (if it fits anywhere)

I was fitting some rear parking sensors last night, removed rear right access panel in the back to fit the control box and get at the reverse light wires and found this lying on the floor - it measures about 8 inches by 5 by 1.5 inches and has the No. PP TX20-REC100 - it seems to be some kind of air intake with rubber flaps

just wondered if anyone recognised it straight away

at least I've solved the annoying rattle thats been driving me mad for the last 6 weeks :)

From the manual:

Outlet vent (part # JDD100170)
The outlet vent promotes the free flow of heating and ventilation air through the cabin. The outlet vent is installed in the RH rear quarter body panel and vents cabin air into the sheltered area between the rear quarter body panel and the outer body side panel. The vent consists of a grille covered by soft rubber flaps and is effectively a non-return valve. The flap opens and closes automatically depending on the differential between cabin and outside air pressures.

they also allow the extra pressure caused by shutting the door to escape there by stopping yer windows from poppin oot, so i was told years ago

I saw a guy's car a long time ago that had blown a back window clean out when he SLAMMED the driver's door shut in a rage.

He got even more in a rage and opened the door again so he could slam it shut even harder, but no more windows popped out.

Probably an expert ...
