Series 3 Any reason why not ( heater pipes part 2)

After much searching it seems no one not any of the part suppliers or indeed Ebay have the metal pipes on the SIII that carry the water to and from the heater matrix past the rocker cover gasket.

However to get to my point... could i not just make the pipes out of normal copper tubing as used in the central heating?

or not?

the house are on order .. i can feel the warmth already...

No reason why not. Used inch and a half copper to pipe up rear radiator on a trialer.

Copper pipe works fine. I have several sections of my heater cicuit made from it. It can be tricky to get the right dia for the hoses. If its too small you can cut the end off a yorkshire (solder ring) fitting to get a larger dia. if its too big you can get some adaptor hoses where one end is bigger than the other. I got a pair off e-bay as I had 15mm copper going to a 16mm heater.

Copper pipe comes in differing thickness normal domestic is table X , some table Y would be good as its wall thickness is better.
If you solder an olive on outer where hose pushes on it will give you something to clamp too. Table x will probably squash with jubilee clip.

As above you may find a few size issues hose to pipe,but that easy to take care of with the 2 options ^^^
Our 630r has an “original” T piece and it is Yorkshire fittings although it’s painted black I can see it
Go for it,you can polish it for a bit of under bonnet bling too but I guess for you the major benefit would be heat in the cab..

I remember using copper pipe bent to shape with Yorkshire fittings years ago on a mini never had any problems with them, they chrome up well if you want real Bling!

Aww thanks Bob ...
I have rebuilt the fan and re seated al the air hoses so now we have right hurricane in the cab & as I use Evans coolant i'm kinda hopeful that i will get some improvement.
Next job is to flush out the matrix ( but i have to go mix some dodgy band for a new years eve gig so it's going to have to wait )
