Sorry to have to make this my first post but I've searched though the forum trying to find the answer to this one...

New car to me, 2004 L322, I got the car with two keys, only one of which worked. I bought two new ones from eBay, got them cut and swapped over the gubbins. All remote stuff works fine.
The problem occurs when I try to start the car with one of the new keys. They both open the doors fine from outside, they both go into the ignition and turn, and all the starting procedure lights come on, they just wont start the car?

If I use the blade from ONE of the old keys, the car starts, the other old old and the new ones don't?!?!?!
really confused with this one so any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Nick

The fobs work fine, it's the blade that wont start the car.

They work in the lock and they work in the ignition, they juts wont start the car.

To add to the confusion, I can start the car with ONE of the old keys, and if I remove that one after starting the car, and then use either of the new ones, they then start the car too?!?!?!
Take them out, and leave it for a minute and try again and they don't work again...

When you swapped the internal gubbins did you loss the little tiny responder chip out of the key, its looks like a small bit of plastic and easy dropped.

Brian, you sir are a legend. Thank you for your help, I did indeed overlook them tiny pieces of plastic, one of which fell out the key on to the table and I thought, ah, a broken bit of key...

Luckily enough, because I was in a huff, I didn't clear any of the screws, keys, back plates, screwdrivers, and most importantly, transponders up... so it was still in the table with the other still lodged in the key.

I now have two working keys :)

Glad you got it sorted, I just remember that problem coming up before with some of the other guys, all`s well and didn't cost anything which is unusual for an L322
hope you don't get too many other probbs, stick a round and join in with the fun:)
