i've jus removed the original tape player/radio from me 300tdi D90 and want to stick a shiney new something in there. I know NOTHING about head units or any kinda elecrical stuff so I'm startin from zero here guys!:D

anyone have any ideas wat i'd need to fit a new cd player, radio, as these are the cables that were connecting the old broken H/unit.
ok i'v added pic but if that dont come up, i'l try n describe 'em!
a yellow plastic rectangular 'plug' with 2 rows of 4 cross (look like + ) in it with 3 slot shaped (look like - ) in between the two rows of +'s. theres a grey 'plug' with identicle shaped slots in it. and in addition theres a black cable with a silver end to it, looks a bit like one of the plugs you use to connect aux things to tv's/ vcrs etc. just with a longer 'pin'! ahhhhhhhh hope some of this makes sence.

if anyone can share soe advice as to what i may need to connect a new h/unit i'd b very grateful. also there dont seem to be an ariel conection.can i fix that?
cheers!again!!

sounds like you got the connector blocks. which is a good start. go out and buy a headunit, it dont matter which, whatever tickles your fancy and try to connect the blocks together (with those that come with your new unit). if they dont go together, you can buy convertion thingy's. ie. landrover = sony etc etc.

so buy the unit and take it from there.

I managed it mate and i'm blonde. I got a nice noo Sony stereo/cd/mp3 jobby, cut the wires off the block (which did'nt fit), stuck bullet conectors on and matched the colours up that i needed. Bish bosh bish. Job done. It were simple. As for an ariel, thass gotta be easy enuff n'orl. Mine is just inside the cab of my 90, runs up the side of the windscreen. Then theres just an ariel cable from that to the stereo, obviously. Handy bein inside cos i don't knock it off when out lane'in.

cheers everyone!i'ma give t a go tomorrow..and if I come unstuck i'l let ya'l know!just gotta make sure I get one thats got some kinda shock resistance for ALL the BUMPS and RATTLES and SHAKES!and thats only on the nice smooth M4!nevermind down't lanes!
