Hi everyone,

I've been reading the forum amongst others for quite some time now and decided I would finally join up as this seems to be one of the better forums.

I recently bought a monza red 300tdi disco xs and spent a few weeks putting new sills in (rectangular hollow section) with help from a few friends.
The car just gets used as a family wagon at the moment as it only has road tires on, but as soon as I can afford to get some More useful tyres I'll be taking over the farms as a shooting truck.

So far I've done very little fun stuff to it, I've got a nice brownchurch roof rack from a defender, though I had to cut it down quite a bit..
I've added a nice little 10w led lamp on the rear with another arriving in the post soon I hope and a couple of hella lamps on the front of the rack that need wiring.
I'm currently plumbing in an oil conversion and I'm about half way there, I just need a clear day to whip off all the derv pipes to rig up the 6 way valve and then I'll be ...cooking :D

I would like to get into some landing around my area, (Taunton, Somerset) but I know there isn't a great deal around here. I'll need to do a few more mods first I think, like the tyres and some recovery points, but all in a discreet ish sort of way so the wife doesn't go mental...

So that's me in a small nutshell... The name's Fred by the way:)
I'll be boring the tits off he regulars shortly with the usual set of newbie questions, so look out and get ready to tell me to do a search....

hi fred, well there are a few bods on here from the taunton/yeovil area.they will be along to abuse, sorry help you eventually.:p:D:D

WELCOME!

Some more aggressive tyres would work well without having to do anything more extreme to the suspension. You will probably be amazed with what a stock Disco can do (I know I am :D) .

Thanks!
Yes, some better tyres are on the menu (eventually) - some Insa Turbo Traction Tracks I think..

I've already found the road tyres to be insufficient on the farm and got stuck in a sloppy bit of the farmyard!!
I'd love to get the Insa's in 245/75 16 but they just don't make them, but yes, I'll be sticking to fairly standard sus - maybe +1" spings (RRC police ones maybe?) to gain a little tyre flexibility without buggering up the bricks handling..

I forgot to say, I'm also a mini fan - real ones, not BMW Binis - and I've got a little 1275 sat on the driveway quietly rusting away until I can fit it in the garage!
