Hi all, I've brought a remanufactured alternator from a company near me for my rebuild , and it fits lovely but I have a couple of questions. Firstly the new alternator uses a euro plug for the wires and my 200 tdi has ring terminals on the wires, I no the brown/yellow trace wire for the warning light goes in the smaller space on the end but I only have 1 large brown wire does this go in the middle or end space for the battery positive? or does it not matter.
Secondly as in the picture below in the bottom right there is a ring terminal marked up as auxiliary battery positive or split charge relay, as I am fitting a split charge kit instead of fitting the positive from the relay to the main starter battery do I fit it to this terminal instead ? Also there is a negative terminal at the top do I need to eath it as well ?
cheers Ian

Not as simple as you hope
The two large spades are linked together inside the alt, the problem is one large spade cannot carry that much current so you will need two spade fittings on two wires back to the starter motor stud, the lucar spades are not the most reliable connectors.
Then just to confuse things some A127 alternators have the plug and the stud fitting and you can use either!
Iirc the blue lucar terminals can carry max power of 18 amps, so a fair guess is the yellow ones are maybe double that at best and thats still way under the lowest output A127 alt, hence the need to double up.

I would speak to the supplier and see what they say, but reckon the stud is the best bet.
