Hi Everyone, Had this 2001 V8 for a week and its been great. Went to it this morning and wouldn't unlock off the fob, opened the door with the key and alarm went off (Sunday morning aaaagh) Everything comes on with the ignition but can't stop this damn alarm. Should the alarm be deactivated by unlocking with the key or does it have to be the fob?
It's obviously immobilised itself somehow.
Have come from a Range Rover so haven't any diagnostics, any help gratefully received.
Thanks
Ian

Morning,

Do you have the EKA code, may be in the paperwork, if you have use this to disable the immobiliser from the door lock.
You can read how to do this in the owners manual. If you do not have, then call your local LR dealer with the paperwork at hand and ask them for it, some will, some will not give this out over the phone.
Did the fob ever work? if so , you might want to try changing the battery in the fob.

Cheers

Hi Thanks for the information I have dug out the paperwork and on one of the receipts there is an eka code listed of 12/12/03/07. I have tried to put this code in as per my manual but the key directions left and right are opposite to the instructions you have kindly posted. I think its upset now so will give it 30 mins and try again with your instructions. Have taken the receiver out of the roof lining and it was wringing wet so another job to sort out. Dried it off with a hairdryer but still not playing ball on the remote so not sure what is going on there. Many Thanks for the reply. Ian

If you know someone local with a nanocom, you might want to get them to rewrite your eka code to an easier to enter code. You can also verify if the receiver is working or not.

Neilly, Thank you so much, have managed to get the car working again but still wont work on the key fob. Why my handbook should be so different is a mystery. Is there a procedure to resynch the keys to the alarm. Will see how much a nanocom is. Thanks again

Good news,

How did you get it to start?
When you say handbook , is that the owners handbook?
AFAIK, on the D2 , only way to synch key fob is to use a diagnostic, i.e. nanocom. I do not know if it makes a difference for the door locks, whetther the nanocom is unlocked for TD5 or V8.

Cheers

Hi, Yes I put the eka code in as per your instructions and waited the 5 mins for the alarm light to go out which it did with a little click in the door lock. Turned key and off it went.
I suppose Ill have to leave it unlocked now as the fob doesn't work and if I use the key in the door it will alarm itself again and I don't want the hassle with having to use the eka code again. Am ordering a new receiver YWY 000080 and hopefully it will sort itself out. Will the new receiver need coding or is it plug and play? Cheers Ian

Ddi you use the key fob to lock it before?
If you did, have you changed the batteries in the keyfob?
Did you use a good quality battery, I can tell you from experience the ones from the pound shop are crap, LOL.
Otherwise as you say , you might need to order a new receiver.
as I understand it the new receiver is plug and play.
Cheers
