Air Suspension

Has anybody converted the air suspension to coil spring suspension on a L322 2006 and if so,where did you get the parts and at what cost

Kits are available so someone must have done it. I really can't imagine why you'd want to though

fed up with suspension faults which nobody seems to have the answer to

Are you doing the work yourself or a landy/air suspension specialist? What fault codes have you got and what have you done to rectify those codes?

I do most of the work myself, I had a problem with the rear off side bag going down if left for approx 1hr, I changed the bag and it made no difference. I checked with soapy water for leaks ( I am a Gas Safe heating engineer) so that is common practise to me, no leaks were found. I then noticed on the 4 x 4 screen that the front near side red light was flashing, I changed the sensor and that cured the fault both front and rear. Now the problem is that when I reach 50mph I get the message Suspension Fault reduce speed to 30mph, if I stop and switch of then restart, the suspension comes up to standard height and of we go until I reach 50 again and it goes down

Sounds like it might need a recalibration, needs that with a sensor change i believe

You can fit coils to an early L322 but it’s not a great idea they aren’t particularly suited for it.
Given you have minimal issues with EAS is probably cheaper and easier in the the long run to just fix it. Plenty of help available here and once you’ve done a bit of EAS isn’t hard to fix yourself.

Check the wiring to your height sensors matey. We had this on our L319. It would just drop to the bump stops until you restart. I located it back to the sensor on the NSR and changed it then I had even more problems. The wiring insulation fails and goes brittle, once it cracks the copper corrodes in the wire and you get high resistance.

Replacing the sensor for ours was the nail in the coffin for the wiring, simply manipulating it to unplug etc. this was how I actually found the issue and I wonder if the sensor was every really at fault. I could see that the air spring had been replaced on that corner so it's likely to be when the issues started.

You can get repair kits quite cheaply and you will have to cut back a fair bit of wiring to get to good copper but it's worth doing, cheaper than a spring conversion if it is the issue and much nicer to use.

I bought a quite expensive scanner to rectify the suspension fault on my L322, but somehow I have managed to turn off the compressor and I cant get it to come on again, any ideas ?

What was the fault you'fixed'? Are there any faults remaining? Any lights on the switch?

Assuming that I have read this correctly, changing the height sensor on the NSF sorted out the issue with the bag going down at the back? If it has, great that seems odd but it could be attempting to compensate or giving a false reading and confusing the ECU.

Someone will know for sure but is 50MPH the magic number for the car to lower for stability? I assumed it was around 60MPH but I may be wrong there. If so, it sounds like it may not be venting properly as I have just solved this on mine. Have a read of this and it may help you out. The newer L322 is 100mph if I remember having this convo before don’t know what year they changed.

I bought a scanner called Launch, its a really good scanner with lots of diagnostic area's. Because I wasn't familiar with it is how I came to switch off the compressor etc, nopw i have more experience with it.
Ive still got a problem with the suspension, it still shows a suspension fault slow down to 30 message when I reach just over 40mph but the suspension doesn't go down. Ive change the ride height sensor, change the plug, made a secure connection with the wires but just found another area of the scanner which tells me the voltage to each sensor, and the front left has no voltage, so now I need to trace where the wires come from and perhaps rewire that particular sensor or change the control module, fault codes coming up are , C1A68-1c and C1A00-54
