L322 Air sus doing my nut in please help

Static when filling means the pump is running but pressure is not building.
Your front left height sensor showing a height of 41 volts and - 4 mm could be a problem.
you need to clear all your faults and start again to see what comes back and what is old unless you have done that already.
looking at your video, this isnt an L322 is it ?

I went off the thread title. What are we looking at?
 
me too but i'm a little confused as the video below doesn't look like an L322 although may be an oil burner but also the thread is about air suspension but the video is in the engine bay but the compressor is in the boot, well it is on an l322 ??

This is the hissing that I'm getting while the compressor is running, I have no idea where it's coming from but as soon as the compressor stops, so does the hissing.

Its an L322 TD6 the only reason i put the video up is to let you all hear the hissing because as soon as the compressor stops the hissing stops which i found strange, but I did manage to get rave and where the hissing is coming from has nothing to do with the suspension, I thought there might have been a component of the suspension in the engine bay until i looked at rave, I'll see about getting a height sensor for the front right and see how i go with that, i'm also going to put the old piston ring back in as this all got a lot worse when i put the new one in, I'll keep you all updated as to my progress,

Someone mentioned a massive leak but i can't find any leaks in the front right as this was where it all began, i rigged up a connection so i could connect a compressor to the front valve block and inflated the front right and it held it's height so no leak in the spring or air pipe from the valve block to the spring, so my next thought is there a way to inflate all 4 at the same time, maybe the valve by the tank.
 
can the diagnostics clear the faults ok and do they all come back the same.
i noticed when i put a new piston ring in my compressor it seemed to take longer to fill so be interested how you get on there.
The allcomms diagnostics is a lot more user friendly as dedicated l322 kit.
The engine bay is near to the connections in the inner wing for the front struts but that's all i can think of.
have you tried activating the compressor with the engine off to detect the hissing?
 
I followed a detailed video on how it was done, it was only 2 parts to change, the piston ring and an o'ring, done that without a problem as its quite an easy job to do and i don't think i have damaged anything as i was really carefull, but since doing that I've had nothing but bother.
The scanner i have is pretty basic as i can't afford a more complex piece of kit unfortunately but i can clear all the codes and monitor live data thats about it
 
Found this on t'interweb, Seems to be a good description of operation with some good diagrams. Should help you to pinpoint where the issue is. It's for a P38 but I suspect the pneumatics and mechanics are the same. Maybe some slight changes on electronics but yours sounds very much unlike its an electrical issue.

What was the barrel like, if it was scored then you have no chance of making it seal. Is the barrel replaceable like the P38 compressor if so it's best to change it.
 
The barrel wasn't scored it was fine, I put the old piston ring in and the old seal and now i have no more errors, the tank is also getting up to 11bar where as before it was fluctuating between 6 and 8 bar so not the compressor, however i am back to where i was before with the driver side front losing pressure in the bag but it does hold the air when i inflate it manually with a compressor that you would use for air tools, this leads me to believe that it could be one of the valve blocks, either the one next to the tank or the one in the wheel arch, so my next question is how do i test them?

Also took measurements of the ride height sensors at all three heights

Has the hissing noise gone away? If not that was at the front? If the bag stays up being inflated directly then I would have thought it must be the line or the valve block. I've not seen the L322 suspension setup though.
 
The line from the valve block to the spring should be fine as i connected to the valve block to inflate it but i don't think that would rule out the valve block or the lines to the valve block by the tank and no the hissing is still there but again cuts out when the compressor stops but doesn't come back when i jump the relay, it's all very strange lol

if your diagnostics can read and clear faults as well as live data then that 'should' be ample and i take it you have cleared your faults and restarted the RR and operated the eas to check what faults occur?

depending on the year you may not have cross link valves behind the wheel arch covers, i can check when i get chance or look up on the microcat.ru site for the vin numbers
 
Its a 2002 and has the cross link valves behind the wheel arches, and a valve block by the reservoir tank, the hissing is very strange as it sounds like is coming from the air condition components in the engine bay, it's just strange that it stops when the compressor stops, I have rave also and i have been going over it but i'm still stumped as after resetting all the codes i'm not getting any errors from the air suspension, i'll reset every module tomorrow and then go for a spin and see what pops up

Those cross valve thingies. Is the hissing coming from there?

Can you take the feed pipe from the compressor and connect it up to the workshop airline direct? Might help pinpoint where the hissing is coming from!
 
I've got a compressor that runs air tools that i gerry rigged a connection to the valve blocks, i suppose i could do the same and and disconnect the compressor in the boot and connect to the air line from there or even the block by the reservoir with the connection that i have made up already, i'll have a look after the weekend with that and see what happens as i need the car for work over the next 3 days so don't want to damage anything over the weekend
 
And have you had the compressor running without the engine running to try and identify the hissing ?
With ignition on and all doors closed and you actuate the air suspension switch to change from normal height to off road, what happens?
Do you get any movement and what do the lights do on the switch , do they flash, compressor fires up etc ?
