I had my 3.9 V8 air intake hose give up the ghost. I went down to the local Landy dealers and was parted with £52 hard earnt uns for it. It lasted THREE DAYS!! It split in two places.
I couldnt get straight back to replace it but when I did I showed them it and they agreed to replace it. This took nearly two weeks cos they didn't order it until I went back again. The second one lasted a little longer, about two weeks before I noticed problems.
So I trotted off to the dealers and said that they'd better order another one as I now have two splits again. After waiting ages I was told that the part was obsolete and couldn't be obtained. So I then demanded my money back for faulty goods supplied. After a long wait I was told that they very kindly gave me the second one but they couldn't give me a refund cos I fitted it myself! But.... I could write to Landrover!!!
Landrover of course being the people supplying these substandard parts. I can't assess the quality of the plastic/rubber but the internal re-inforcement threads seem grossly inadequate (too thin) and too widely placed to me.
In my opinion, if they ordered these naff hoses as they are, or haven't done any quality checks on them, then they are hardly likely to come up with a suitable answer.
Off to see Trading Standards termorra and phoning Which? too.
I have heard of another landy owner locally who has had to have three of these hoses.

Has any one else had problems with these hoses?
Has anyone had the same response as me?
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement hose (one that don't split cos you're lookin at it)?

Unfortunately, these hoses have slightly different holes at each end so finding an alternative won't be easy or does anyone know better?
Thanks in anticipation.

Industrial spiral wound, double skinned hose of various diameters is available from Ducting Engineering trade suppliers.

I made these in 1994 and they are still perfect. I got the hose I wanted as a free sample from the wholesaler, "Rapduct" in Wolverhampton, UK.

To overcome any minor difference in diameters make cuffs fabricated from an offcut of a motor cycle inner tube folded over as required.

Thanks for that. If all else fails I think that tha smaller cuff on the original pipe may do the job of an insert.
Still like to know if anyone has had the same problem though.
