Advice please - Buying Ex Military Defender

I'm looking to buy an ex military defender, 90 or 110 I've no preference as
to which. We live way out in the sticks in the north of Scotland and need
something dependable for the winter months. I see quite a few advertised but
don't know what to look for when buying. Are there any major problems I
should be on the lookout for? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment vehicles could have a dodgy
chassis. Salt water immersion or being chucked out the back of a
Hercules.

Mileage isn't necessarily related to engine hours, or wear. Radio
vehicles can stay in one place with the engine running to charge
batteries, for instance.

I think I was pretty lucky with my lightweight: the engine had been
reconditioned and the chassis was new. I don't know of any specific 90
or 110 pitfalls.

Thanks , thats certainly a couple of points I hadn't thought about.

Not quite that far out in the sticks. I live in rural Aberdeenshire, (should
have said North East Scotland). It can be quite bad when the white stuff
arrives, which is why I want the LR. Speaking of the white stuff, there's
been a bit blowing in the wind today, perhaps it's going to be a long
winter.
