The top left of my drivers side door (Landy 110, 1992) is overlapping the cab, preventing the second latch from engaging when I try to close the door.

Have adjusted the door hinges, but they cannot adjust enough to prevent the overlapping.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? Perhaps someone sells adjustable hinges for a reasonable price? I considered spacers but can't see how this would help in this case. Anyone else had the same problem?

I can't believe the cost of hinges. Saw a set of stainless steel ones for £210! You could almost buy another car for that! I get so angry at overpriced products.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Thanks

If you can't get enough adjustment by moving the hinge then in all likelyhood the bulkhead is out of alignment and will need to be shimmed, this is very common but is usually done after a strip down. Has the door ever closed properly while you have owned the vehicle?
Never come across an adjustable hinge because it is not required.

Overpriced products? Someone has manufacturered a replacement hinge out of a material not usually used, this will be a low volume item and I am sure that they are not going to retire to the sun on the proceeds any time soon!
Why are you looking at SS replacements when a set of four genuine units are available for £20+VAT a set (RJ LandRovers)?

If you are only spending £200-£300 on a vehicle maybe that is why your doors don't close properly, the chassis has probably snapped in half!

As above, the off side lower bulkhead bolt probably needs a washer or two between the bulkhead and outrigger - this will push the bulkhead forward and cause the door to sit lower.

I know the previous owner did replace the bulkhead just before I bought it.

The bottom, rear part of the door doesn't overlap, but the upper, rear part does. So where would I add the shim? If I shimmed the bottom of the bulkhead then I would assume the problem would remain. Surely I have to move the upper part of the bulkhead further away from the hardtop?

I put together this crude image to show what's happening. Note the red line, which is how my door is aligned:

Looks like you need to tilt the top of the bulkhead forward. Undo everything (including the roof) and then ease it forward, when the gap is correct tighten everything up again.
Not very scientific but it is how it is done.

When you say 'everything' what do you mean exactly? Bearing in mind that I've never fiddled with the alignment of any top, apart from my old lady's.

Ok, check that there aren't any shims or washers between the bulkhead and the outrigger.

Does the bulkhead connect to the outrigger underneath, or are these potential shims accessed above (inside the footwell area/behind the dash)?
