My husband is having problems with his ABS, the car is due an MOT and
as a short term fix he unplugged fuse.

The problem was when he was braking there was a thumping noise. Does
anyone know what this could be? It did stop once the fuse was taken
out?

Many thanks

with the fuse unplugged it will fail the MOT so it needs to be sorted
the thumping is the ABS doing it's thing
there are various reasons for this I had this problem on two mercedes
sprinter vans one was an ABS wheel sensor that was faulty £50 ish
this put the light on
the other turned out to be the ABS ECU £700 ish but this didn't put the
light on
the only real way of checking is to put it on the computer either dealer
or someone may have a handheld code reader not sure with it being Rover

could be a wheel sensor, could be the toothed ring on the hub/drive shaft or
somthing else
