Hi all, im new on here so appologize if this is in the wrong place!
Firstly I have just been servicing my 200tdi 90 and one of the rocker cover securing bolts has snapped(not me who overtightend it, must have been the previous owner) therefore i cant check the valve clearances, it may just be a simple job of drilling it out but im thinking that shards of metal inside the engine is a definate nono, so just wondered what you suggest i do?? Secondly i came to change the oil but couldnt get the drain plug out, now there is a bit of a leak from the sump so im thinking i might change the sump gasket and as a result of taking the sump off, the engine oil will drain, and i may be able to get the drain plug out when the sump is in my hands, i appreciate this may not be the cleanest method but as the sump is leaking i thought i may aswell do it, so what kind of a job is removing the sump, seems quite simple in my haynes but your opinions would be great.
Thanks Oli

as to the drilling out clean all the oil from around the area with a rag then get the doris to hold the hoover up close to the drill bit, then after run a magnet over the whole area ;)

as to the sump you may as well do it proper besides expect there is plenty of other oil leaks to stop yer drive rusting :D if it is dizel oil its going to be messy anyway ;) oh :welcome: by the way
