What causes my 1996 Discovery to hesitate or pause on the highway?
It will hesitate without loosing speed or RPMs for about 3 seconds then it will return to normal for under 1 second. This will continue for 5 to 10 minutes then resume normal performance. This has been going on for years. It happens more in the summer when it occurs once or twice a week. The dealer claims ignorance and so do my other mechanics. (The fuel pump has been replaced before.)

What gives?

<snip>

I had a similar problem in my 1997 Disco 4.0 V8 Auto. It turned out to be a
speed sensor for the transmission. ~$200 CAD to fix...
