90mm UJ part number?

Hi all,

Rear front prop UJ gone. Spent last night in the cold, wet darkness getting the prop off (stupid 9/16...). Offered up the spare I got from island4x4, seemed about right (we know what that means). Just pressed the old one out and the new one is smaller. I have bought an 82mm UJ, but the one I just took off is 90mm.

I can't find a part number for a 90mm UJ? Anybody? Does it mean I have a wide-angled prop? The usual UJ's are 75mm and 82mm aren't they? I have some smaller UJ for the rear, offered one of those up and could see size difference so assumed they were the 82mm, hence ordering the wrong one

Annoying as I need the car tomorrow and the chances of anybody near being open let alone holding stock is slim to say the least!
 
A new friend had a spare that was almost the right size. The new one measures 92mm across from cup-end to cup-end. I figured the 2mm difference was wear on the old UJ.

However, I have just pressed the UJ into the yoke. 1 circlip went in nice and easy, the other really needed some persuasion to only almost sit in (had to squeeze cups quite tight in the vice). The UJ is now quite stiff to turn. Will this be ok and 'loosen' after a bit of use or is it an indication the UJ is slightly too big?

If it is too big, can somebody please give me the right part number for a 90mm UJ! I now have 3 different sized UJs that do not fit my car :)

Once the circlips are in, you should strike the yoke a couple of times with a hammer to settle the cups back against the circlip, this usually frees the uj, if you got both circlips in then uj is right size, HS 166 from a bearing factor!

Righto. Will grease her up and give her tap when I get in.

I am slightly dubious that one cut lip isn't fully seated. Maybe a little love tap will help
 
Given her a good pumping of lube, still quite stiff even after a bash from behind.

If the UJ is the wrong size and the cups are binding on the tops of the pin rollers, or the circlips aren't engaged 100%... what would the worst scenario be...?!?
 
my bros 110 defender 300tdi UJ's are the same size as my Disco 2's UJ - 75 mm. I thought the td5 defender has 90mm, not 92mm ... but I could be wrong

The one I took off was 90mm, but I cannot for the life of me find a confirmed part number for a 90mm UJ! I wondered if the 2mm difference with this new one was down to wear etc. but the fact it was a bugger to press home and is now a tad stiff, just confirms to me that it should be 90mm!
