The story so far ........

I have changed the front, pads, disc and caliper. I have also renewed the brake master cylinder as the old one had leaky piston seals, however after I bled it, I now getting inconsistent pressure on the foot pedal when braking. One minute there is firm pressure then the pedal drops about three quarters. The vehicle is braking but it's disconcerting to say the least. I have asked friends at work and they say that I may have an air lock in the system, but I have bled it. My only theory is , that when I replaced the M/Cylinder where the piston from the brake pedal enters the cyclinder bore there was a red grease like substance. I never replaced this, and I am now thinking this maybe my problem as there's no suction between the two parts, so the cylinder piston is not withdrawing fully. Can anyone help before me and the missus end up in the divorce courts !

Thanks in advance

Ive recently had the exact same symptoms, it turned out to be a knackered wheel bearing

If its not id try re bleeding the system, using an eazi blead kit!

Thanks for your replies. I will take a look at the rear bearings this weekend and re-bleed. I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers
