Hi all,

It's been a while since I was on here last but finally got another landy in my life!

I've bought a slightly fettled 2 door rangie which currently has a 3.9 V8 on strombergs and a 4 speed auto box (all from a disco I believe).

This leads me to my plan to swap to diesel. i've searched and searched for a week now but can't find the answers I want, so have resorted to posting a new question about it! Apologies if I've missed something, please feel free to point me in the right direction!

So far it seems I've got two main options....

1, Buy a 300tdi and a 300tdi autobox, fit in place of current motor and box.

2, Buy Isuzu 2.8TD/3.1TD and conversion kit from M&D, fit to current box.

If I buy a 300tdi and auto box to suit, will it mount up to the engine and gearbox mounts I currently have? Will i have to move anything? If I've gotta move mounts etc, this idea is out.

If I go the isuzu route, is it really as simple as it sounds using the conversion setup and will the V8 autobox be suitable for the isuzu motor?

Does anyone have any information/drawings for what's involved in the Isuzu conversion set? I'm guessing it comes with a custom bellhousing as they don't specify what the auto box must have come from.

I'm an engineer working with CNC mills, lathes and a waterjet all day, so making bits isn't an issue at all, but time isn't on my side!
I don't mind fabricating bits at all, but the rangie chassis is galvanised so I'd rather not have to start moving engine mounts etc!

That's all for now. If it's any consolation, I'll be doing a full build thread to help anyone else along the way. Oh, and the rangie has 4 wheel steering, it's pretty cool!

Cheers, Larby
