4.6 Vs 2.5.

So, I drove my brothers 2.5 DL yesterday for the first time.

I have a 4.6 V8 and i have to say I didn't think the power of the diesel compared to the V8 was that bad.

Noisier, and a bit less smooth perhaps, but not as pig slow as I'd been led to believe.

Of course, perhaps after driving a V8 in the UK with petrol (and LPG) prices what they are I've taught myself to be very light on the throttle.

His is the manual diesel so that might make a difference, but all told I was quite impressed.

A lot of people put the diesel down as slow.
But both of mine have been nippy (auto's) a bit of lag at 1st and then off they go! they have a funny throttle i think which you need to get used to,and theres a few factors if there not looked after that can make them seem slow. overall i like mine,like you say,not as smooth/powerfull as a v8 (iv'e had 5) but they still get the job done and around 30mpg on a run... now showing 165k and still pulls well....for now lol
