300tdi Throttle cable problems.....

Morning chaps,

I changed the throttle cable on my Disco last week as it was sticking. Since then I have the exact opposite problem. Whilst driving the throttle cable winds itself un-done, resulting in the pedal being almost at the floor whilst I have use of only about 1/4 throttle.

At the side of the cable nearest the bulkhead there is a black turn adjuster which I assume is for when you initially set it up. I am having to wind this back after only around 10 miles of driving.

Should there be some sort of lock attatched to the cable so once you have wound it tight enough, it locks into position? In my haste I didn't pay much attention to the old one I took off, (yep, schoolboy error), so I don't know if the two cables are any different. DOH!

In advance, cheers.

Hope it helps ... ;)

Thanks for posting the pictures.

In the second picture you can see the black adjuster knob, used to wind the slack out of the cable.

On mine, that knob keeps winding back, slackening my throttle cable.

Right, get you now. I thought you meant the adjuster was at the bulkhead .. hence why I posted the pics ... thought you might have somehow got the cable the wrong way round!!!

As suggested, Loctite maybe, or that clip someone else posted about.
