Afternoon chaps.... Advice needed please, I decided to change the bearing in the fan belt tensioner pulley ...this was duly completed and thought I'd also change the serpentine belt too... also completed , I'm on a roll ....started her up and all was good n quiet ahh bliss ! no more chirping Cicada type sound :D then I noticed the new belt was trying to throw itself off.....bugger !

I had just changed the alternator so presumed it was a pulley alignment issue but then discovered that the pulley wheel on the PAS pump was wobbling about due to the fact that of the 3 bolts that should hold the pump in place, I only had one and that was working its way out also

The casting had broken on the the tapped bolt holes of the pump so I have ordered another one :) is this a common fault ? :(

My question is, is this just a case of undoing the hoses on the existing pump , are they under residual pressure ? plugging them while I swap the pump over and refitting them ? will I need to bleed it or add any more PAS fluid if so what do you guys recommend.
Any help much appreciated
Cheers

U will have no massive pressure in the lines.

3 bolts hold the pump and 3 for the pulley

ATF dexron 2 or 3 bout a Ltrs

Put on axel stands run the engine and go lock to lock a few times (will be a lol stiff at 1st

Then get someone to hold the steering on a lock and crack the bleed screw on top of the steering box (looks like a bleed nipple)

(Mind all moving parts)

Let the air bubbles out into a rag or something and nip up. (Wont be lots)

Do same on other lock and keep an eye on fluid level ( do the same 4 times each lock job done)

Since recently changing my PAS pump I've noticed resistance/judder in the steering wheel occasionally, when stationary or moving very slowly and turning to full lock.
Could the system need bleeding or have I bigger problems?
Thanks
