300tdi Disco-engine and Gearbox in a 110 Def.

Hey Landy"freaks",

I just bought a 110 V8 defender.
The Engine is not wyh the Car and I want to put in 300TDI Disco-engine and the Gearbox in the Def.110
Does somebody knows someone who did this?
I hope to get some respons because inm Holland they say that a lot of people did this in the UK
Can someone give me info.

Explain 'a lot of work' because this is what I plan to do. The V8 is coming out and a 300 + R380 + disco transfer box is going in. I have read somewhere that the disco engine mounts will have to be used but I cant find the thread.
I'm searching now, that's how I found this one.
Surley once the gearbox mounts are lined up and props fit then it's just a matter of welding on the disco mounts for the engine. I know exhaust will have to be altered but that's not a huge problem.
Any advice..

Right, had a read through that thread and it's very good. Cant understand why the Disco engine mounts weren't just bolted to the chassis and tack welded into place. They are bolted to the Disco chassis so must be strong enough.
No mention of fan catching on the steering box though.
One thing I noticed with the 200 into Tom's 90 is that the heater pipe from the head can be reverse fitted to suit the 90 heater. That's one done
Best thing is for me to start a thread as soon as I start stripping the V8 out in a couple of weeks.
