Hi just had a little adventure in my disco 300tdi and managed to suck up enough water to wet my air filter and a few puffs of white smoke but now all seems fine runs ok no loss of power and no smoking .... am i right in thinking a new air filter and change of oil should be ok??
Regards

You won't have water in your engine oil. But it sounds like you've come an hairsbreadth away from hydraulicking the engine and killing it, New airfilter is probably a good idea. but the worst damage is more likely to have been done to your axles unless you have high level breather pipes fitted. I'd be inclined to drain the diff and swivel oils out and renew them.

Definately sounds like a lucky escape! Was pretty wet in Exeter this afternoon, had an interesting encounter with floods on the M5 coming back.

yes it is pretty bad down ere this was a local bridge by honiton i think i was very lucky it sort of coughed a bit then like a said few puffs of white smoke... thought oh crap this is it lol drove to local garage in town popped bonet saw air filter wet ect took off oil filler cap bit of white on lid so me thinking change oil all in all i think lucky escape :) would of been a shame to wreck it after all the good work its dun in the snow over the last few days saving people :)

To be sure, try taking off the lowest air hose joint at the bottom of the intercooler.

There us a chance water may be trapped there and might proceed to the cylinders under full boost conditions. Wrecked engine ....

Worth checking.
