Hi, my disco has developed a strange intermittent clutch problem today.
With clutch depressed it will go into gear ok, and there are no problems changing gear and the engagement point on the pedal seems to be in the normal place, but when you slow down to stop it's as if the clutch is dragging. the car shudders and lurches. If you quickly knock it in to neutral it stops.
When you press the clutch to select a gear again it all seems fine.
I've had a few clutch problems in the past, but nothing as weird as this.
I was wondering if it could possibly be anything to do with the clutch damper.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers

hi
probably more to do with slave cylinder , or less common clutch master cylinder , if you off road the beasty then slave it more likely than not your problem , water and crap ingress through the seal .

Thanks elsie.
Thinking about it, you could be right. I suppose if crap has got into the slave cylinder it might sticking a bit sometimes. It's not leaking though...yet. it's a good place to start, and if turns out to be something else then I haven't had to shell out much cash.

Cheers.
