Evening everyone.

I'm going for the concensus of opinion on here and looking to change my exhaust system to give better towing capabilities.

I have a 1998 R plate 300tdi auto, with cat.

Where do I get a replacement straight through system , or what does a rookie like me need to do ?

Thanks in advance

Mark:cool:

ok I tow a small trailer with two ponies in it 2 adults two kids 1 dog three saddles feed etc etc... so a good bit heavier than a caravan and all its fixtures and fittings... and run a '94 300tdi disco...bog standard with cat. and do you know what ? since i got the turbo sorted it pulls like a train.....
if you are pulling a caravan and you want good mpg you dont need a top speed of 110 mph do you ?
point is why bother changing what workswell enough? ok that ought to have taken the lid of a can of worms.....

Here we go again!!!!!!!!!

As radicalrabbit states, There is nothing wrong with the standard exhaust system! BUTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Toast is nice with butter, However I like jam on my toast aswell, Dont you ?????

In my opinion a company called, TWISTED PERFORMANCE do a superb cat replacment exhaust system for the 300Tdi, It gives an extra 18% power in low, mid and high range torque bands!!!!!! NICE :D :D :D :D :D

But please remember, you only get out what you put in, so upgrade your old panel filter to an induction type set up or even a snorkel system!!!!!

Go on radicalrabbit me old mate, Pick fault with that!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL:D :D :D :D :D

well if you want to spend 350 quid on a tuned sports exhaust system, about twice that for an upgraded intercooler upwards of 750 quid for that so theres a grand , a bit more on rigid turbo hoses a k&n airfilter and the mini typhoon system that spins air through the intercooler to turbo pipe work, saY ANOTHER 200? yes you will get enhanced performance.. the question is do you want to spend a grand and more to go a wee bit faster and get some more mpg? you can buy a hell of a lot of fuel for that sort of money ?

Ok maybe I am in the wrong job and a grand a half isnt that easily come by, and maybe if you want speed a 4 litre range rover v8 would have been a better option in the first place?

All a bit O.T.T to get to Scabrough at the weekend with a caravan?
... over to you mate

Thanks for the replies both

You have certainly given me food for thought, I can see a lot of pro's but big financial con's.

Soon be Christmas, must give me wife a list ...............:)

Regards

Mark

Easy answer is get a standard down pipe from a defender as they were not fitted with cats £40,then get a larger capacity intercooler from bell autos then just keep tinkering for a lot less dosh, hope this helps, phic lr tech, tiga
