As a complete novice - think I have identified that I have a 300Tdi - based on the fact that it's a Defender 110 CSW 2495cc 1998 P reg. Looking under the bonnet - the simple tell tale signs I've read about being the yellow dip stick and rubber matting cover over the turbo. Also the age of the vehicle.
Trying to find out more about the differing engine types for useless information (to help me identify my own better) and wondered why most petrol engines seem to have V6 or V8 etc., yet when I research using google, some diesel engines seem to have V6 or V8 engines mentioned also. Is this the case for the Defender too?
Google tells me unlikely as 300Tdi replaced an earlier V something and then moved to TD5. Most V engines are petrol? For speed and lighter weight? Am I right? Or completely off track re: all this V business. In short, am I likely to have a V something engine on the 300Tdi? Sorry if this a really stupid question - have to start somewhere?
