I have rebuild a engine for a 300 series disco and I am getting a "good" oil leak into the bell housing, the oil does not look thick enough to be gearbox oil so I am presuming that it's engine oil from the rear of the crank, I was going to drop the sump and have a look and number 5 bearing to make sure it is tight, are their any little secrets to fitting this bearing caps so it does not leak, also I suspect that the head gasket is leaking I am grasping at straws here but could the cylinder pressure be escaping into the oil ways and blowing out of the rear bearing cap making the oil leak at the same time.
