Hi
I am getting the management light flash on occasionally on my Disco perhaps
for 1 or 2 seconds each day.The idle speed is sometimes high and others very
low, coupled with this with car running on lpg (omvl millenium )power is also
erratic almost like gas ls being closed off when throttle demands more .I
have disconnected the air flow meter and the air bypass valve with the car
running on petrol and lpg No warning lights come up and no change at all to
the running surely if anything is disconnected on the management side of
things the ecu should show this as a failure???? Can anyone shed any more
light on this please
Rgds Alan

Hi Alan, I had the exact same thing which has been driving me Mucking Fental since i bought the car about 6 months ago, I took it to several garages and the all were clueless, and quoted fortunes to investigate. I paid nearly a grand for a complete exhaust and oxygen sensors on there reccommendation, Which made no improvement at all.
Notwithstanding, I decided to have a look on here and try myself.
I removed the airflow meter and cleaned it thoughroughly with carb cleaner (if you unscrew the bit with the mesh on you can spray the cleaner directly at the sensor wires), then i removed the stepper motor and cleaned both it and the hole it screws into, and lubed it with a bit of wd40, and now it is running beautifully, no cutting out, no management light, and a super smooth idle 0f about 550 rpm .
I found details of how to do this stuff on here, and it is well easy, and you don't need many tools, and a can of carb cleaner only cost me £5-
I am feeling very proud of myself at the moment, and hope this works for you too, regards Marc

Yep this works great..... i had this problem about 3 months ago, all of a sudden coming upto a set of lights, dipped the clutch to coast upto to them, revs went upto about 3000 rpm, and stuck.... managed to get it to my mate a kwik fit , and did more or less what you described.. best £5.00 or so i ever spent... keep the can in the car now just incase. the crap that came out of the intake was untrue. years of build up and carbon. the butterfly? basicly wouldnt close properly because of the carbon .
