I've been offered a complete V8 carbed with gearbox/transfer (4 speed,
as mine) with an apparently genuine 37K miles, and all ancilliaries
(from a RR of similar vintage as my 110), for £550 delivered to my
mechanic. The same place also has an 89K carbed engine for £250. I
assume that my power steering will just bolt on to the replacement
engine...
Is this a decent price (the £550 engine)? What should I expect to pay
an independent landrover mechanic/workshop to swap out either just the
engine, or the whole lot? Is it much more difficult to swap out the
engine/gearbox as a whole?
So many questions, so little time...
