I have a couple of defender:) v8s that im having horrendous difficulty trying to start:mad:. Im based in YEOVIL Somerset and was wondering if there are any fellow enthusiasts that are local and could throw some light on the problems.
Both have good clean fuel being delivered to the carbs and both are sparking on all plugs, the batterys are good too. One vehicle was running and starting but now refuses to fire up since i drove it on some ramps to dissemble and replace the transmission brakes. The other is just a complete b#t*h:( probably not helped by the dizzy being in the wrong place.
Any local chaps out there fancy popping over one day and kicking some tyres ? Or know of any local v8 type people whom could do so, I will of course be prepared to pay for any help in getting these old girls going and supply copius tea and munchies !
Im off up to the Newbury sortout Sunday but am about Saturday Monday.
Please help advise,
many thanks in advance

I take it you've checked that the fuel pump is working and delivering fuel under pressure to the carbs and any in line fuel filters aren't blocked?
If you've upgraded to electronic ignition you might have an issue with the ignition module - the little black box on the side of the distributor (or on a separate mount connected by a short link lead).
When this part fails and they do (suddenly and without warning) a V8 will categorically refuse to fire up as I discovered a couple years ago.
