IN MY SHED
Having stripped the engine block down to paint it etc
I have now started the task of bolting all the clean parts back onto it, except
the alternator.
It looks like it has seen better days.
And when you rotate the main shaft, it sounds like the bearing have almost give up the ghost.

So, would be cost effective to rebuild this one, or simply buy another one?
And if so any advice on amps 45-65 or 100

As always thank you for you help and guidance :D

I'd just buy another, they're not that expensive. There's no need to get a high output one unless you have (or plan to) have any power sapping extras, such as a winch, extra lights, bigger stereo etc. I upgraded mine when it went due to having an amplifier in my stereo system and a larger battery. I was also considering a winch at the time.

Yes I was thinking a bigger stereo and amp etc. but not bothered ref a winch
on this one, that will be on the next project :D

cheers Mitch

tempted to fit one to mine also
Sick of spending money on it

Well at the time I was dunking it a lot so was going through them like no tomorrow, but havent done any proper muddy stuff for ages so this one has been on approx 18 months

I have a 65 amp on mine which does the job. I have a couple 100 amp spots on the front, on tick over I notice the spots dim slightly but the battery is always charged up by the time I stop. I had thought of putting a duel battery in and increasing the Alt to a 100 amp but couldn't be bothered at the end of the day.
