Does anybody know what the factory/standard settings are for the 200tdi fuel pump????

Previous owner has tweaked the one on this new disco...it goes like heck...and I really mean that. Its surprisingly quick.

But it does have 238000 miles on it...reliability is more important to me than power, and it does seem to be overfuelling quite a bit...no black smoke on start up but massive swathes of it if you put boot down to accelerate whilst in a higher gear...basically seems to do it if you really put boot down whilst a low revs.

It sounds like the "off boost" fuel diaphragm has been adjusted up too far, this is usually done to give a bit more power at low revs but has the consequence of smoking up the exhaust when the turbo boost is low. If you do a search on the forum you should find the info you need to reset it, just take it in slow steps to bring it back, adjust, test drive and so on.

Thanks mate...I gotta hand to them...this thing drives waaaaay better than an old 4x4 should though!! Very very comfortably sits at 80 on motorway if needed without any sign of nearing its limit or with any vibration etc etc and once you hit 11-1200 rpm pullimg away it's like a bat out of hell...Just smoke when doing so is a bit much.

Hard to believe it's got over 2300000 on the clock!
