I wonder if you might help me solve a little problem ive been having. The freebie has been in the garage a lot recently (82000 miles) for a new solenoid for the turbo fan vein control and then for a new fuel pump and new injector on the third cylinder. Problem is ever since the car came back from the dealer after the injector and pump was done...my glow plug dash light never comes on anymore.

Now ive been out in the czech republic now two years and its always come on as it should...even in summer at least for a second. So im trying to figure out whats gone wrong and why it seemed to stop working after the dealer had been playing around in the same area of the engine.

Starting is ok...but it runs a little rough for about 3 sec when the temp drops to about 0 or -1...gets much colder here. After its warmed up it all seems to run fine but the dash light for the plugs NEVER comes on. Ive never had it NOT start...but i have had a little more smoke for a few mins before it warms up.

Does anyone know where the relay might be on my 53 plate kalahari 3dr?
Is there anything else i can check?

Anyway i can prove it was broken during repair?

Thanks in advance for the advice...wallet is now seriously skinny so cant really shell out for their dealer rates at the moment.

Cheers will do.

By the way...do you mean in the under-bonnet fuse box that sits next to the batery? or is it somewhere else in the top right of the bay?

YUP Defunct . . . .the td4 has a quick start glow plug system, and you might not even see yer glow plug sign less temp drops to bout -1 but it still switches on wiff ignition [yes i know its a doozle] only way to proof it is to put a volt meter or test lamp on glow plugs, yer got 8 fuses to check and 4 relays i will list them for yer . . .fl1=100a fl7=40a fl3=60a fl6=100a f1=15 fl7=40a f10=20af 19=10af6=10a . . . .note fl=fuse links as opposed to fuses , , , ,relays. . ..167 ec module and 166 main relay 201 glow plug relay 180 fuel pump relay. . . .don't know were these are in your motor as it varies from model to model , so you will have to hunt, the timing and temperature setting is controlled from the ecu , all you need to know is doe's it come on at all, as i said test at glow plugs, hope this helps you earthling. . . .:) :) :)

Many thanks to you all...i know what im looking for now :)

Ill start off by checking the plugs first methinks then the fuses / fusable links. Think i will leave the bulb on the dash till last since if i remember correctly i have to remove sterring wheel to get to it (?).

I have a rave cd but only have a mac at the moment so it doesnt really work..will have to have a look at work and see where all those relays and such are.

Currently looking for a new garage too...there are only a few in the CZ but they cant all be bad. I think there are about two independents around so ill track them down.
