Hi All

I am Old as the hills but new to your site.
Had a customers 2001 Freelander 1 TD4 110k in today. Complaint being: Engine periodically going into Limp Mode 2500 rpm and no more, 50 mph flat out. Drove car for 30 miles and it happened once. Cycle ignition and good to go again. Can't force the fault to occur.
Attached to Diag, only ECU error code (DTC) was P1470 Boost Pressure Command, a generic code Not Present. When in Limp Mode, no turbo assitance seems present. Any ideas chaps?

Secondly, customer asked me to replace Fuel Filter TD4 Front mounted next to Lift pump. Not having done one before I searched good ole' Google. Came up with this site and several others. Some basic replies but slight suggestions not the full description. I couldn't find it anywhere. Anyway as the Old Git that I am, I tackled the job regardless. The easiest way to replace it is to remove the waterproof box by disconnecting all the wiring and the ECU in this box. Once all this is out of the way filter replacement very simple indeed. Peaple mentiond a tiny self tapper that is impossible to refit. Not if you do the job this way. Didn't even remove the screw, just slid the filter out of the housing (once pipes and wires disconnected) replaced filter on the bench in the vice and then slid it back in and put everything back. Pretty straight forward and none of that "Decorating the hall stairs and landing through the Letter box" nonsence.

I hope this detail will help another soul in the future on the same search as I was.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who can shed some light on previous Limp Home problem above.

Cheers all.

Martyn
