Hi
200Tdi Auto
My exhaust (middle and rear) needs to be replaced.
Are there any benefits of replacing the middle box with a straight through pipe and just buying the rear box? Or should I buy a standard system?
Thanks
Richard

i would buy the standard system, it was designed like that so why alter it ? you wont gain anything doing away with the middle box.

Hi,

If you have a turbo, you dont actually NEED a silencer at all. My 1960 S2 with 200TD engine just has a length of pipe from manifold to just in front of rear tyre. My wife mutters about it being just a smidgen noisey, but the MOT bloke didn't even comment.

Doing away with either or both boxes will improve exhaust flow. Improved flow makes life easier for the engine.

My last disco had no boxes at all, the pipe came out the rear quarter so no back box, and the centre was just replaced with straight pipe, it was a tad louder than stock, but not offensively so and was not a problem at MOT time. Was just noticeably more responsive to the throttle.
