200 or 300tdi

Long serpentine (300tdi) drive belt as opposed to several drive belts are one giveaway. Also the 300tdi has the EGR branched off the 2" pipe that goes from the intercooler to the inlet manifold. Not sure the 200tdi has an EGR for that matter.

I will have another proper look but I think the dipstick is at the front of the engine and it definately has a square air filter not a round one. My mate is not convinced.

As the good rev says - the serpentine drivebelt through the water pump and alternator is the best giveaway - you can't miss it, it's about an inch wide. The 200tdi drivebelts look like the alternator belt off a mini ;)

He thinks the alternator is too low in the engine bay. I might just take to a landrover garage and ask them what they think. I will check what belts it has too as Im sure 200tdis have seperate belts driving the alternator and power steering pumps

200's do have seperate belts - if yours dunt an' it's got one long fecker thats prone to fallin' off and being a general pain in the 'arris then it's a 300 ;)

Bedfordshire int so far from me - you get out and about much?

Dipstick on a 200tdi is on the passenger side of the engine and has a cylinder shaped airfilter box that exits through the N/S front inner wing.

This is a 200tdi, made from 1989-1994.

Any Disco 1 made in 1995 or later I'd say is definitely a 300tdi but they were also available in 1994 I think.

I was reading about the 300TDi in the new LRO mag and would you believe that the only part common to the 200 and 300 is the con rods. I thought the 200 and 300 were closely related but there is a big difference. Very interesting article.

hi chaps
guess what mine is a cross dresser its got 200 and 300 bits on it one of the last of the production runs for 200,s they must have run out of spare parts of Sherpa and maestro/ital bits owned it fer nearly ten years so i know it aint been messed with getting parts can be confusing but i would definitely class mine as a 200tdi sorry to add to your confusion :D
