2.5 n/a Diesel lift pump leaking oil

Hi all this is my First post in the forums- I have had a trawl around and not found anything to help with the following, forgive me if the post does exist.

Getting 90 ready for MOT typical! Had an issue with lift pump blocked yesterday another story. But today a quick drive about to clear brakes and warm everything up. Engine began to idle very high. Giving a few extra seconds between gear changes idle would not recover stayed high. Parked on drive and left for 30 secs still way high, blip of throttle no change. Then i noticed oil peeing all over oil filter from what looks like the lift pump.

I have since cleaned the lift pump and confirmed oil is coming from the hole on the bottom side of the lift pump. It has become hard to start and does not want to idle.

I am hoping a replacement lift pump cures this? Your thoughts and help is much appreciated!

Yes new (decent brand) lift pump should cure the leak, not sure about the idle issue.

Thanks blue beasty, I have looked through most of said posts. I am worried about the idle issue, I'm gonna swap lift pump and go from there!
