have solved the problem with the keycode lockout/ reprogramming, but now i need to find the part number for the red cable that goes from the battery to the starter motor. as it is so brittle and coroded and will not take the current.

Get your local garage to make one, they just need the old one as a pattern or the length plus what size eyelets it has.
The tools are not to dear to make your own.

i used to have my own hydraulic crimping tool, but i left it at work when i retired. i used to make battery cables and engine cables for caterpillar.the firm went bust so all my tools and access to the tools dissappeared with them.

For a one off, you don't really need a tool. Buy a length of cable and a screw on positive terminal, and a correct size eye off the net.

Screw on the terminal, and improvise on the other end, I sometimes lay the fitting on a block of wood with a V cut in it, and hit it with a hammer and drift to bend it, then put the cable in the V in the metal, and bend it over and clamp it down with Mole grips.
