Hi, newbie here, i recently purchased a manual 1997 range rover 2.5 dse at auction, there seems to be no power under 2000 rpm, i have to constantly change down gears when under 2000rpm, the engine just seems to have nothing until the turbo kicks in, its not so bad when you stay over the 2000 revs but when under it,virtualy nothing. Does this ring a bell.

Can anyone help.

Thank you

Hi
That's what I mean. There's no boost to speak of under 2000rpm, therefore no power. It's why they're so ridiculously easy to stall for a diesel. You have to keep it spinning to make any decent sort of progress. And pulling out onto roundabouts with a load on the back can be, shall we say, interesting.........
