The passenger side of the engine block looks wet from underneath the inlet manifold down. Not a patch but covering all of the block. Doesn't smell of diesel so must be water. Any ideas where it could be coming from? Hard to see without taking manifold off. Thanks.

I take your point about water just evaporating. Doesn't look like oil - maybe it is diesel leaking from somewhere?

Coming to the conclusion that it's Diesel from leak off pipes - would explain poor starting in the morning

Good idea. I think I might fit a one way valve in the clear pipe too - you don't happen to know what internal diameter that is?

I think the issue is your leak off pipes. Don't bother with the cheapo **** off Island or eBay. You need the Bosch stuff. Ask @tomcat59alan!

The leak off pipe is a pain, I have bought all sorts of pipe and even the Bosch was showing signs of dampness around the ends when I stripped the head off last week

That matches what Dopey's mate Max said. He said all the stuff in this country was utter ****e and so he brought back a roll of the stuff every time he popped back to Poland. I got mine off him but it does mean a trip to Heathrow!

All the leak off pipes were wet ! Replaced all this morning so hopefully that will sort it. Got the metal one way valve but not entirely sure where to fit it - just before the fuel filter in line with the pipe that goes in the top?
